Gender encompasses a complex interplay between biology, identity, and culture, creating a spectrum of identities beyond traditional male and female categories. Gender inequality is a major concern both globally and in India. India ranks 135th out of 146 countries in the Global Gender Gap Index 2022, reflecting persistent inequalities. This research examines the relationship between gender inequality and job satisfaction, including an analysis of various theories of gender inequality in the workplace. Job satisfaction, influenced by personal values and work conditions, is crucial for organizational effectiveness. Gender disparity often results in unequal access to opportunities and resources, leading to reduced job satisfaction, especially for women in male-dominated fields. Gender wage gaps further worsen this issue. In contrast, job satisfaction is higher at workplaces that promote gender equality. The research has also conducted an examination of governmental policies and initiatives aimed at reducing these gender inequalities within the workplace. In conclusion, to overcome these challenges, this paper recommends the adoption of parental leave policies in India to support men's involvement in raising children. By supporting women's professional advancement and enhancing long-term retention, initiatives like the POSH Act seek to balance gender representation in underrepresented sectors. Initiatives like these seek to promote gender equality and produce diverse, equitable work environments, contributing to a better future.
